First Responder CORE SUD 8-Hour Training Bundle
4 Essential SUD Courses — One Streamlined Path to 8.0 Training Hours
About the 4-Course Bundle
This four-course online bundle provides a comprehensive foundation in substance use disorder and opioid prevention, equipping First Responders with essential knowledge to understand addiction, recognize and respond to overdose, reduce stigma, and apply trauma-informed approaches that support prevention, treatment, and recovery outcomes.
Together, these courses build practical competency across the most critical SUD topics — from the science of addiction and overdose response to stigma reduction and the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
What’s Included in the 4-Course Bundle
First Responder Naloxone Administration (1.5 Training Hours)
Developed specifically for Law Enforcement and First Responders, participants will learn how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, how to administer the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone, and what to expect after administration. In addition, the course provides a review of the opioid public health crisis conditions and discusses some myths surrounding naloxone.
The Brain and the Disease of Addiction (2.0 Training Hours)
Understand addiction through the lens of neuroscience. This course explores how substances rewire the brain, why recovery is possible, and how this knowledge strengthens compassionate, stigma-free care.
Removing the Shame and Stigma of SUD (3.0 Training Hours)
Break down stigma. Build pathways to recovery. This course examines how shame and stigma block access to care—and equips learners with practical tools to replace judgment with advocacy, compassion, and stigma-free language.
Exploring the Role of ACEs and Trauma in SUD (1.5 Training Hours)
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma, and toxic stress play a powerful role in shaping long-term health outcomes, including substance use disorder. This course provides and introduction to how early life experiences, post-traumatic stress, and social conditions influence behavior, brain development, and recovery trajectories.
